Michelle Emiko Velasquez, L.Ac. is a licensed acupuncturist, herbalist, and nutritional consultant with over 33 years of experience in the healing arts and natural medicine. An athlete all of her life, she gravitated towards sports massage therapy and, after receiving her master’s degree in Oriental Medicine, interned in China to receive post-graduate certification in Acupuncture Orthopedics.

Born in Okinawa, a so-called Blue Zone, yet raised in California, she has seen the deleterious effects of modern times and the Standard American Diet on health. She maintains that food is our first medicine and aims to prevent the autoimmunity, dementia, diabetes, and heart problems present in her own family from ravaging her children as well as counsel others through the sometimes daunting work of eating healthier and making better choices.

Michelle thrives despite her own food and chemical sensitivities and injury history. She has found what works and is eager to share her knowledge and experience. Her treatments blend Japanese Meridian Therapy with Traditional Chinese Medicine, utilizing a variety of modalities such as acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, laser and other non-needle acupoint stimulation, moxibustion, gua sha, cupping, tui na, far infrared lamp/mat, herbs, homeopathics, supplements, and essential oils.

Michelle is also excited to offer aesthetic treatments such as cosmetic acupuncture, microneedling, and light therapy with FDA-approved professional grade devices and Chinese medicine-based herbal serums for such purposes as skin rejuvenation including balancing skin tone, increasing firmness, and reducing fine lines, acne, and age spots and to restore hair growth.
